Costa Rica Wedding Seasons

Costa Rica Wedding Seasons

Costa Rica has varied topography and there are places in the north that are relatively arid and rainforests in the south that may see rain every day of the year, yielding from the coasts up to chilly peaks so perpetually shrouded in clouds that the contour maps of these areas (such as the upper Division valley) can only indicate permanent fog. Unless you are pining for the Scottish coastline, you will probably prefer to choose Costa Rica's most temperate coast, the central pacific, for your Costa Rica wedding.

So let's talk about the weather there in Jaco Costa Rica.

The average 30 year rainfall profile from nearby Puntarenas is:

less than 1/3 of one inch from January to March

(If that came all at once it would be a heavy rain but its spread out
and it seems like it doesn't rain at all because it comes at night and is light)
January, February, and March are the driest months for your Costa Rica wedding.

December and April are the next best months for your Costa Rica wedding. These are shoulder season months with rainfall of less than 1.5 inches that could include one big sustained rainfall, but its likely to be spread out

May through August rainfall is around 7 inches, which can come in big downpours
but there are always sunny times during the day and days without rain during the weeks

...which cannot be said for September and October. if you choose to celebrate your Costa Rica wedding in
September or October in Costa Rica, be prepared for natures wet version of fireworks.

There could be some sunny skies, but be prepared for rain. And more rain.
Unrelenting. Powerful. Sublime. Kind of like the bonds you are forging
Its warm and its wet and it doesn't stop. Its kind of romantic.
Dare we say even sexy.

The 24 average temperature in nearby Puntarenas varies between 82 and 83

Sunny season day time highs are in the low 90s with overnight lows in the 70s. Green season daytime highs are in the 80 and its warmer overnight than in the sunny season.

The mountains and jungle shade parts of the Jaco valley. Its five or ten degrees cooler near the base of the mountain in Jaco where hotel DoceLunas is located than it is in heavily paved and developed areas in central jaco, which are slighly hotter than the beach.

Whenever you choose to celebrate your Costa Rica wedding, Jaco will make a great base convenient to the airport in San Jose, near national parks, its own surf beach and several other world class beaches, golf courses, and sportfishing for your wedding guests. With Jaco's temperate climate, your wedding party will enjoy a wedding under almost guaranteed sunny skies in January through March, and sunny skies interspersed with possible warm light rain through most of the rest of the year aside from September or October, for those who want something extra memorable for your Costa Rica wedding.

Games for your Costa Rica Wedding

When you celebrate your Costa Rica wedding, some of your guests may not know each other, or may not know each other as well as they might like to. Some of them might know each other better than they would like to. That's why we have lots of tables for your Costa Rica wedding.

I recall a wedding officiant who oddly chose to begin the ceremony more or less railing against the institution of marriage - per the wishes of the bride and groom -- but gradually brought her criticism around to this constructive point: rather than see marriage as a beginning of a special relationship that involves some degree of withdrawal from former relationships, let us acknowledge that married life requires even more support from our community than living alone, and let's not just join these two individuals, let's join to these two communities. Now that you have a wife or husband to complain about, you are really going to need your friends and relatives, and maybe his or hers too - you know, for insight.

With the commendable higher objective of joining the community of the brides friends and relatives with the grooms community, you can help make your wedding more fun and engaging for everyone young and old if you include some games in your Costa Rica wedding plans to help break the ice.

Costa Rica Wedding Legal Requirements

You will probably want your Costa Rica wedding to be legal and official. In Costa Rica, as in most countries, the government keeps track of who is married with marriage licenses. Its takes about a month to get one, but its best to start your paperwork two months before your wedding so if there are delays you will still be ok. You will need a Costa Rica identity card ("Cédula de Identidad") and a Certificate of Single Status issued by the Civil Registry of Costa Rica, which you can get with your passport. It doesn't convey Costa Rica residency or anything - its just a national I.D. card.

You also need to register your Costa Rica wedding one month in advance and provide your name, occupation, passport numbers, foreign address, birth date, place of birth, nationality, father's full name, mother's full maiden name, parents' address, and an original copy of passport.
You will also need a certified copy of your birth certificate, a certified copy of your police record, and a Affidavit of Single Status.

If a woman has been previously married, she must wait three hundred days after death or divorce before she can remarry.

You will also need two witnesses for your Costa Rica wedding that are not relatives.

You should seek formal legal advice before getting married in Costa Rica, but now you have a basic idea of legal requirements for your Costa Rica wedding.

New Years Wedding

We have a group coming in for a Costa Rica wedding around New Years.

It might sound a little odd at first to decide to have your wedding during a major holiday, but there is a clear advantage for those planning destination weddings. If you have your wedding in Costa Rica and you want all your friends to be able to come, choosing a holiday weekend makes it easier for people to get time off to travel to your event. Its easier to take a whole week off for many people and while people are usuaully willing to travel domestically for a long weekend or just two days for a wedding, if you ask them to travel internationally, its a better use of their travel time and money if they can take a few extra days off to enjoy their destination.

Certainly Costa Rica offers plenty to enjoy for tranquil to heart pounding there are all kinds of adventures awaiting your wedding guests when you choose to have a Costa Rica wedding.

Tranquil: birdwatching, ariel tram gondola tours of the canopy, relaxing on one of our many postcard beaches, wildlife tours - which cross over into heart-pounding when you watch the crocodile man hand feed his monstrous friend

Adrenaline: canopy tours, surfing, ATV rides, motocross rental, canyoneering, waterfall jumping

I hear if you play golf right its tranquil, but watching some people break their clubs, clearly there can be adrenaline involved. Whether you are breaking your clubs or gazing happily as the flag shudders with the impact of your hole in one, Costa Rica offers some spectacularly scenic courses near our hotel in Jaco.

The sportfishing here is world class too. You will get some time to sit in tranquility, but a leaping marlin will shatter that tranquility pretty darn good.

If you have some friends getting married, you will be doing them and yourself a service when you suggest they celebrate their union with a Costa Rica wedding at Jaco Hotel DoceLunas.

Latest Wedding, Kinkajous, beach sunset

Another happy couple celebrated their wedding in Costa Rica yesterday. Congratulations to Ben and Danielle! They chose to get married down on the beach. It's not quite the dry season yet, and they thought maybe they were having bad luck when they found it was raining on the private beach that we arranged for them, but it cleared up just in time for the wedding and there was an usually dramatic l sunset. They had their Chef's dinner on the private terrace and the kinkajous (Costa Rican bush babies) came out to celebrate their nuptials. We will have a quote up pretty soon at www.docelunas.com.
